Job description

Civil Engineering professional with 4+ years of accomplishment in designing Civil projects. This individual assists Valdes A&E Senior Civil engineers working with other Valdes A&E discipline engineers and client engineering representatives.  
Responsibilities
  • Display a general knowledge of the Civil Engineering discipline
  • Provide generally accepted practices with project layout and design with minimal guidance from Senior Civil engineers
  • Engage in design production, as directed by Senior Engineers, and help produce complete, quality, and timely deliverables
  • Verify field conditions and assist the Senior Engineers in resolving problems during field construction
  • May be required to participate in short-- or long-term field assignments
Technical Competencies
  • Site development project experience (stormwater, grading, utilities, roads, etc.)
  • Experienced with Civil 3D or MicroStation CADD software
  • Experience with hydrology and hydraulic software is a plus
  • Familiarity with the IDOT standards and specifications. Familiarity with the general layout of a set of IDOT road plans is preferred
  • General familiarity with the Illinois Urban Manual and erosion and sediment control practices. Familiarity with the NPDES permit process, including generating a SWPPP, is preferred
  • General understanding of the permitting process, including Federal, State, and Local
  • General knowledge of and use of municipal ordinances is a plus
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Civil Engineering
  • 4+ years of experience working as a Civil Engineer
  • Must hold Professional registrations (PE) or be able to obtain registration within one year of hire
  • General knowledge of Civil Engineering
  • Strong Microsoft Office software skills
  • Strong AutoCAD / Civil 3D or MicroStation CADD experience
  • Must possess exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Must be able to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future
