We have an exciting opportunity for a Summer 2027 Intern - Structural Dynamics Engineer to join the team! This position will be performing structural dynamic analysis on spacecraft and lunar vehicles in multiple NASA human spaceflight programs. This includes Orion, Gateway, Human Landing System, Commercial Crew Program, Lunar Terrain Vehicle, Pressurized Rover, and others.
This is a temporary role not to exceed 12 weeks.
The Summer 2027 Intern - Structural Dynamics Engineer following duties and responsibilities are:
  • Perform finite element model checks, dynamic model reductions, coupled loads analysis, interpret results, and communicate results to peers and management
  • Perform dynamic analyses using commercial and in-house codes, write new simulation scripts and code, typically with Python, as needed
  • Perform vibroacoustic analysis on finite element models in preparation for acoustic and random vibration tests
  • Identify critical modes for a component or integrated system
  • Review and process modal and structural data (analytical and test)
  • Develop and/or review test plans and procedures, documenting test results
  • Perform signal processing on analytical and/or test data

Requisition Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited university.
  • Completed at least 45 credit hours.
  • Minimum of 2.8 GPA.
  • Mechanical, Civil, or Aerospace Engineering student
  • Coursework: Statics, Dynamics
  • Working knowledge of Python, MATLAB, or C/C++
  • Must have excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Experience with desktop software applications, MS Office is required

Requisition Preferences:
  • Working toward a BS or MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • Coursework: Finite Element Analysis, Linear Algebra, Structural Dynamics, Vibrations, Signal Processing, Data Analysis and Reporting, Structural Analysis
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Experience coding/scripting with Python, MATLAB, or C/C++
  • Experience using FEA software and a pre/post-processor
  • Experience with Unix/Linux
  • Familiarity with version control methods such as GitLab or GitHub
