Your role at GEI.
We are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer/Project Manager with project management, business development, and large civil project experience to join our team. This individual will support our growing civil engineering practice across our energy, environmental, transportation, and buildings practices both locally and across the company.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
  • Provide program and project level management and technical direction for planning, design, and construction of large civil engineering projects including site planning and development, permitting, feasibility studies, site layout and design, site and roadway grading, site utilities, earthwork, stormwater design, soil erosion and sediment control design.
  • Develop business and help GEI grow the civil engineering practice by leveraging relationships and knowledge of civil engineering clients, programs, and infrastructure.
  • Maintain high visibility in the marketplace through regular client contact, participation in client-based professional organizations, and attendance and presentations at industry events.
  • Provide direction and assistance in recruiting, mentoring, and training staff in the civil engineering discipline and related fields.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 12+ years of experience in civil engineering with 5+ years in a senior/project management role.
  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or related field. M.S. preferred.
  • Professional Engineering license required.
  • Have experience managing staff using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and BIM software.
  • Travel between offices and project/client sites. Some overnight travel may be required.

Preferred Qualifications:
The strongest candidates for this position will:
  • Demonstrate experience with agency permitting, civil design, contract and construction management, and contract plan and specification preparation.
  • Have the ability to serve as subject matter expert (SME) and appear before local agencies and boards on behalf of client projects as needed.
  • Provide Senior leadership and be recognized for technical excellence and the development of client-focused, creative, and practical solutions.
  • Demonstrated success leading and managing large civil engineering projects and accounts.
  • Successful Seller-Doer with existing relationships and knowledge of civil engineering clients, programs, and infrastructure.
  • Support GEI's growth and development of the infrastructure design market and program efforts.
  • Be a team builder with excellent leadership and communication skills.
