Job description

The Civil Engineer is responsible for the planning, design, coordination, and execution of civil engineering activities supporting the construction of a hyperscale data center campus. This position oversees site development, grading, drainage, underground utilities, paving, stormwater management, and erosion control while ensuring compliance with project specifications, applicable codes, regulatory requirements, and engineering best practices. The Civil Engineer works closely with internal engineering teams, contractors, surveyors, and project management to deliver technically sound, constructible, and cost-effective solutions that support project schedule and quality objectives.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Design and oversee civil engineering solutions for hyperscale data center construction projects.
  • Prepare and review grading, drainage, paving, and utility plans.
  • Coordinate site development activities with structural, electrical, mechanical, and architectural disciplines.
  • Perform engineering calculations related to stormwater management, drainage systems, earthwork, and utility design.
  • Review topographic surveys, geotechnical reports, and environmental studies to support project development.
  • Coordinate underground utility layouts, including domestic water, fire water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and electrical duct banks.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents for accuracy and constructability.
  • Support permitting activities and coordinate with local municipalities and regulatory agencies.
  • Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) and provide engineering support during construction.
  • Review contractor submittals and shop drawings for compliance with project requirements.
  • Participate in constructability reviews and value engineering initiatives.
  • Conduct periodic site visits to verify construction activities align with approved engineering documents.
  • Coordinate design revisions resulting from field conditions or owner-requested changes.
  • Support commissioning and project turnover activities related to civil infrastructure.
  • Maintain project documentation and engineering records in accordance with company standards.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 5 years of civil engineering experience supporting commercial, industrial, manufacturing, mission-critical, or large-scale construction projects.
  • Working knowledge of site development, grading, drainage, utilities, and stormwater management.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure.
  • Experience supporting data center, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or other mission-critical facilities.
  • Experience working within an EPC or Design-Build environment.
  • Familiarity with permitting and regulatory approval processes.
