About the Opportunity

We're partnering with a retained heavy civil contractor to recruit a Project Engineer for their growing Water/Wastewater division.

Based in Concord, CA, our client is a respected contractor with a strong reputation for delivering complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects throughout Northern California. Their portfolio includes treatment plants, pump stations, pipelines, and other critical municipal infrastructure, with the majority of their work located across the San Francisco Bay Area.

This opportunity is ideal for a Bay Area-based Project Engineer looking to join a company with a healthy backlog of local work, long-term career growth, and exposure to technically challenging infrastructure projects.

The Role

The successful candidate will begin by supporting a flagship project in Sonora, CA for approximately 6–8 months.

To support this assignment, our client offers:

  • Fully covered accommodation
  • $70/day per diem
  • Travel support as required

Upon completion of the Sonora project, you will transition onto projects located throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, working from the company's Concord office and local project sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers in the successful execution of water and wastewater construction projects.
  • Assist with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and cost control.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate with owners, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel.
  • Track project progress and help maintain schedule and budget objectives.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Support procurement, material tracking, and quantity take-offs.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Attend project meetings and assist with reporting and project administration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • 3–5 years of experience as a Project Engineer on heavy civil construction projects.
  • Previous experience delivering water and wastewater infrastructure projects is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of public works construction and municipal infrastructure.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, or similar construction management software is advantageous.
  • Willingness to work on the initial Sonora assignment before transitioning to Bay Area projects.

What's on Offer

  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package
  • 401(k) with company contribution
  • Fully paid accommodation during the Sonora assignment
  • $70/day per diem while on the Sonora project
  • Long-term project pipeline throughout the Bay Area
  • The opportunity to join a highly regarded contractor delivering critical infrastructure across Northern California

If you're looking to take the next step in your heavy civil career and want to be part of a contractor with a strong reputation and an exciting pipeline of work, we'd love to speak with you.
