Starting Hourly Salary: $22.78-$34.17 (depending on ASE/Master certifications)
With no certifications, the starting salary is $20.19 hourly.
This is a Safety Sensitive Position.
About this Position
The Mechanic II maintains and repairs the City's fleet (and related equipment). This mechanic job includes general maintenance, basic repairs, and complete overhauls of engines, transmissions, advanced electrical wiring, refrigeration, and fabrication. Includes some stand-by and call back duties.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 3 years of related experience and/or training
    • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier

Responsibilities
  • Inspect, diagnose, and locate complex mechanical problems
  • Tune up engines
  • Make adjustments as specified by the manufacturer
  • Inspect, adjust, clean, and replace parts/units
    • Including internal & external engine work
  • Check fluid levels
  • Perform preventive maintenance oil changes
  • Conduct job site or on-the-road repairs
  • Instruct other employees as needed
  • Maintain records and documentation
  • Repair service equipment

  • Ability to meet the required physical standards for this position
  • Ability to pass extensive background process and pre-employment drug, physical, and audio screenings
