Job description

What You’ll Do:
As a Staff Accountant, you’ll be responsible for the monthly accounting and financial reporting processes for a portfolio of institutional, private real estate multifamily communities.
Where You’ll Work:
Located in downtown Columbus, Ohio, our corporate offices overlook the Columbus Commons, which plays host to over 200 events throughout the year. Enjoy the building’s fitness center and rooftop terrace with adjoining clubroom and walk to some of the city’s best restaurants and downtown amenities.
What You'll Own:
  • Daily, Monthly, and Annual responsibilities include:
    • Month-end close, reporting and analysis
    • Property budgeting and cash forecasting
    • General ledger review and maintenance
    • Monthly and/or Quarterly variance explanations
    • Bank reconciliations
    • Management Fee calculation per property management agreements
    • Vendor invoice and disbursement review
    • Maintain asset additions/disposals and reconcile the balance in the fixed asset system to the general ledger
    • Review lender and operational agreements, ensuring all reporting requirements are met
    • Calculate and analyze monthly/quarterly partner distributions per operating agreements
    • Recording of escrows, capital expenditures, depreciation, and equity contributions/distributions
  • Serve as a trusted information resource to department leaders and the internal operations, asset management, and acquisitions team
  • Maintain department policies and best practices
  • Assist in creating and executing detailed financial analysis and ad-hoc departmental projects
  • Other duties as directed and assigned
What You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 2+ years of accounting experience
  • Previous real estate accounting, tax, or GAAP experience within the areas of private investment and/or property management strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Proficiency in Entrata or similar property management accounting software preferred, but not required
  • Ability to sit at a desk for 8+ hours a day
