Job description

Sr. Microsoft Administrator

Remote

JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Microsoft Administrator serves as a senior technical resource responsible for the architecture, administration, security, stability, and continuous improvement of the organization's Microsoft infrastructure environment. This role works on. the design and optimization of Hyper-V virtualization, Microsoft Intune endpoint management, Microsoft 365 services, and hybrid identity through Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID. The position provides expert-level troubleshooting and escalation support across Windows Server, Group Policy, PKI, Veeam and related infrastructure technologies. Responsibilities include monitoring system health, managing patching and platform lifecycles, and remediating vulnerabilities. The position leads major technical projects, establishes infrastructure standards, maintains operational documentation, and mentors other administrators through technical guidance and knowledge transfer. Participation in on-call support, incident response, and planned maintenance outside normal business hours is required.

  • 20% - Eliminate technical debt through various migrations and upgrades while aiming to modernize current processes
  • 20% - Tier 3 technical support - Support other team members by providing industry expertise on difficult and complex issues.
  • 15% - Backup, recovery, and high availability - Implement and manage strategies for data protection and uptime.
  • 10% - Documentation and compliance - Maintain accurate records of configurations, policies, and procedures.

TECHNICAL AND FUNCTIONAL SKILLS

  • Microsoft Intune & Modern Endpoint Management - Proven expertise managing device compliance, configuration profiles, app deployment, and conditional access via Intune (MDM/MAM). Device provisioning with Autopilot; JAMF experience for macOS a plus.
  • Hyper-V virtualization - Design, deployment, and administration of Hyper-V hosts and virtual infrastructure, including clustering, live migration, and capacity planning
  • Microsoft 365 administration - Deep hands-on experience administering Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and O365 security/compliance in an enterprise tenant.
  • Windows Server & Client OS - Administration, patching, and hardening across current Microsoft server and desktop operating systems.
  • Core Microsoft infrastructure services - Active Directory, Group Policy, PKI and SCCM
  • Citrix Administration - Support of Citrix environments (CVAD, PVS); NetScaler experience is a plus
  • Backup & disaster recovery - Implementation and management of enterprise backup and DR solutions (Veeam preferred).
  • Automation & scripting - Proficiency with PowerShell and command-line scripting to automate provisioning, reporting, and routine administration.
  • Networking fundamentals - Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and firewall concepts to support infrastructure troubleshooting.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience with system administration

The targeted pay range for this role is $114,478 - $154,882. The total compensation package for this position may also include applicable incentive compensation, such as an annual bonus. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, specific work geography, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
