Help Manufacturers Get the Most Out of Their CNC Machines

This role exists because Marubeni Citizen-Cincom is committed to helping customers maximize the performance of their CNC equipment—not just selling machines.

As a CNC Applications Engineer, you'll work directly with manufacturers to develop machining processes, optimize production, train machinists, and solve real-world manufacturing challenges. Every day is different. One day you may be programming a Swiss lathe in the applications lab, the next you'll be helping a customer improve cycle times or proving out a complex new part.

If you're an experienced CNC programmer or Swiss machinist looking to move beyond production machining while staying hands-on with cutting-edge technology, this is an outstanding opportunity.

---

What You'll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

  • Program Citizen-Cincom Swiss CNC machines and develop efficient manufacturing processes
  • Conduct machine demonstrations and support pre-sale customer evaluations
  • Recommend machining strategies, tooling, and process improvements
  • Interpret blueprints, part drawings, GD&T, and engineering specifications
  • Perform first-part runoffs and cycle time studies
  • Set up Citizen and Miyano CNC lathes along with CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers
  • Configure CNC programs and machine setups to customer specifications
  • Train customers on machine operation, programming, and best machining practices
  • Provide technical support over the phone and during on-site customer visits
  • Install and align bar feed systems
  • Prepare engineering reports and cost estimates
  • Travel throughout the West Coast region and occasionally throughout North America and internationally

---

Machines, Controls & Software

You'll work with equipment such as:

Machines

  • Citizen-Cincom Swiss CNC lathes
  • Miyano fixed-headstock turning centers
  • CNC vertical machining centers
  • CNC horizontal machining centers

Programming & Applications

  • CNC programming
  • Process development
  • Machine setup and optimization
  • Customer training
  • Manufacturing process improvement

Software

  • Microsoft Office

---

What We're Looking ForRequired

  • 5+ years of CNC machining or CNC programming experience
  • Strong understanding of CNC setup, tooling, offsets, and machining processes
  • Ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to obtain or maintain a valid U.S. Passport
  • Willingness to travel locally up to 50%
  • Some international travel to clients in Canada or Mexico

Preferred

  • Swiss machining experience
  • Experience with Citizen-Cincom equipment
  • Experience with Miyano machines
  • Customer training or applications engineering experience
  • Additional college or technical education

---

Why You'll Enjoy This Role

Unlike a traditional production machining position, this role gives you the opportunity to work alongside manufacturers across a wide variety of industries while becoming a technical expert in advanced CNC technology.

You'll help customers solve difficult machining challenges, improve productivity, and get the most from some of the most respected Swiss turning equipment in the world.

If you enjoy programming, process development, troubleshooting, and sharing your machining knowledge with others, you'll feel right at home here.

Pay, Benefits & Schedule

  • Applications Engineer I: $38–$42 per hour
