Job description

SUMMARY

The CNC Manufacturing Engineer develops and improves CNC Machining processes used for the manufacture of high precision RF/Microwave components. They are responsible for researching, planning and implementing new methods of machining to support improvements on existing products as well as supporting development of new products.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Evaluate and implements new machining and programming processes/techniques to improve productivity, reduce costs, and enhance machine shop capabilities.
  • Support new product development by applying Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles and building manufacturing capabilities to meet design requirements.
  • Analyze scrap and waste within assigned manufacturing processes; develop and execute continuous improvement plans to minimize waste and increase efficiency.
  • Conduct engineering analyses, Design of Experiments (DOE), and process trials to optimize and improve manufacturing performance.
  • Support quoting and product design processes by assessingmanufacturingcapabilities and developing accurate part Bills of Materials (BOMs) and routers including cost inputs such as materials, labor, overhead, cycle times, setup times, inspection, and tooling.
  • Lead or participate in capital equipment initiatives, including planning, procurement, design, installation, and validation activities (DQ, IQ, OQ, PQ).
  • Serve as the Engineering representative for the CNC Machining Value Stream, collaborating cross-functionally to drive improvements in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) goals.
  • Other duties as required in support of the department and the company

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of this role do not include supervising other employees; however, CNC Manufacturing Engineer positions offer opportunities for career advancement.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a CNC machining environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of machining concepts and CNC programming, with specific experience in Citizen CNC Lathes.
  • Experience withimplementation and use CAD/CAM software for CNC lathe programming.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

As part of their job duties, the employee must sit for lengthy periods while frequently using their hands to handle objects and communicate verbally. Additionally, they may need to stand, walk, reach, and occasionally lift objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds. This role requires specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
