Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Equipment Operator is responsible for safely operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting equipment used in reactive chemical cleaning and chemical circulation services. This role ensures all equipment functions efficiently and remains compliant with company and industry safety standards. The Equipment Operator must promptly communicate any deviations, safety concerns, or equipment issues to the Supervisor.


JOB DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Equipment Operations & Oversight

  • Operate pumps, boilers, heat exchangers, filtration units, and other job-related equipment.
  • Perform pre-job inspections to confirm equipment is in proper working condition.
  • Monitor equipment performance throughout job execution and make necessary adjustments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues in the field.
  • Assist with equipment setup, rig-up, and breakdown activities.
  • Ensure all equipment is operated in accordance with company procedures and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate equipment logs and report maintenance or repair needs.
  • Assist with loading, unloading, and transporting equipment to and from job sites.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of equipment and work areas.

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce strict adherence to all safety policies, procedures, and job-specific requirements.
  • Actively participate in Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and daily toolbox meetings.
  • Ensure all crew members operate equipment safely and in compliance with company and industry standards.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Provide oversight of field personnel to ensure adherence to equipment SOPs.
  • Train, coach, and mentor team members to enhance performance and safety awareness.
  • Develop and manage effective equipment shift turnover documentation.

Project Coordination & Documentation

  • Provide Supervisors with timely updates on equipment status.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date equipment logs throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Create daily shift tickets detailing equipment utilization.
  • Provide customers with QR codes for post-job reports.

Customer & Business Support

  • Assist with additional job site tasks as required by customers or management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Support other service lines during periods of reduced activity, as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience managing equipment on medium-scale reactive chemical cleaning projects.
  • Strong understanding of reactive chemical cleaning operations and execution.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, PFDs, ISOs, and other engineering schematics.
  • Knowledge of metallurgy and chemical compatibility requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications and documentation tools.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Ability to reach above shoulder height, bend below the waist, and position equipment as required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., including overhead lifting, using proper lifting techniques.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Frequent exposure to chemical and environmental dust, fumes, exhaust, and highly pressurized fluids.

      • High heat (95ยฐF+ heat index with high humidity)
      • Subzero temperatures depending on geographic location
      • Noise levels frequently exceed 85 dBA; hearing protection is required
