Job Description
SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Senior Producer, the Graphics Producer and Editor creates and produces graphics for all NJ PBS programs and platforms. This position also edits assigned content, including news segment, program segments, promotional materials, and other content as needed.
NOTE: Hiring is contingent upon the execution of the contract between the State of New Jersey and Montclair State University.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Create and produce graphics for all NJPBS programs and platforms.
  • Ensure visual branding consistency across linear broadcast and digital platforms.
  • Design and animate on-screen lower thirds, name tags, and title cards for news and programming.
  • Create broadcast-ready motion graphics for show opens, bumpers, and stingers.
  • Build and maintain template libraries for recurring segments and shows.
  • Produce full-screen graphics, maps, charts, and data visualizations for news stories.
  • Edit raw footage into finished segments, packages, and full programs for news segments, programs, and promotional materials.
  • Color correct and grade footage to meet broadcast standards.
  • Cut promotional spots, fundraising appeals, and station IDs.
  • Ensure all output meets FCC broadcast specs.
  • Export and deliver files in formats required by master control or playout systems.
  • Manage and organize media assets in a shared storage system.
  • Troubleshoot render and output issues.
  • Support live event coverage with on-the-fly graphic updates
  • Adhere to NJ PBS editorial standards and public media ethics guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Management retains the right to add or change job duties at any time.

QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in journalism, design, information technology, communications, broadcasting or a related field.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in motion graphics and video editing work.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software like Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Premiere Pro), and familiarity with broadcast CG systems like Chyron or Vizrt.
  • Ability to work accurately under tight, non-negotiable deadlines in a live broadcast setting.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with producers, reporters, and master control staff and translate editorial needs into finished visuals.
  • Ability to work under deadline pressure in a fast-paced live news environment.

PREFERRED:
  • Experience in a journalism, media, or public media production environment.
  • A solid understanding of broadcast technical standards - frame rates, aspect ratios, color spaces, and loudness requirements.

Salary Range
$76,486.40-$84,131.83 Annual
