Position Information
Position Title: Faculty Member (Part-Time)
Department/Discipline: Performing Arts Teacher, Advisor for the International Thespian Honor Society and Advisor for the annual TEDx event.
Employment Classification: Part Time, Exempt
Reports to: Vice Principal of Academics
Work Schedule: 7:30am-4pm with additional responsibilities for meetings, events, and school activities as assigned, including occasional evening and weekends

Position SummaryThe Part-Time Faculty Member serves both as educator and minister, partnering with families and the school community to disciple students through Christ-centered instruction, mentorship, and service. Faculty members are responsible for delivering rigorous standards-aligned instruction within their discipline while intentionally integrating Christian faith, supporting student well-being, and contributing to a safe, respectful, and mission-aligned school culture. This position exists to advance the mission of Crean Lutheran High School by proclaiming Jesus Christ through excellence in education, modeling Christ-like character, and fostering intellectual, spiritual, and personal growth in students.

Essential Functions of a Faculty Member
- Instruction and Learning (Performed Daily)
- Teach assigned courses in accordance with school curriculum, pacing guides, and state standards.
- Design and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate, and differentiated instruction.
- Integrate faith and learning through a Christian worldview appropriate to the discipline.
- Utilize effective instructional strategies, assessments, and learning technologies.
- Maintain accurate and timely gradebook and academic records.
- Student Supervision and Safety (Performed Daily)
- Manage classroom behavior and create a safe, respectful, and orderly learning environment.
- Supervise students during instructional time, passing periods, and assigned duties.
- Enforce school policies related to conduct, dress code, academic integrity, and safety.
- Monitor students in real time to assess behavior, learning progress, and potential concerns.
- Assessment and Student Support (Performed Regularly)
- Use formative and summative assessments to measure student learning.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to students.
- Identify and support students who are struggling spiritually, academically, socially, or emotionally.
- Collaborate with counselors, administrators, and support staff as needed.
- Communication and Collaboration (Performed Regularly)
- Communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Respond to parent, student, and staff communications within 24 hours during the work week.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional learning communities, and collaborative planning.
- Maintain required office hours for student and parent support.
- Professional Responsibilities (Ongoing)
- Engage in ongoing professional learning and development as outlined by the school.
- Align curriculum, lessons, and assessments with school initiatives and accreditation requirements.
- Demonstrate professionalism in conduct, appearance, punctuality, and preparedness.
- Uphold confidentiality and ethical standards in all professional matters.
Faculty members may be asked to serve in additional roles consistent with their gifts, experience, and the needs of the school, including but not limited to:
- Advising student organizations, honor societies, or Cohorts
- Coaching or supporting extracurricular programs
- Participating in school events, chapels, retreats, and community activities
- Bachelor’s Degree in assigned discipline or related field
- Valid California teaching credential (or ability to obtain)
- Minimum of two (2) years of secondary teaching experience preferred
- Demonstrated commitment to Christian education development
- Master’s degree in discipline or education
- Experience integrating faith and learning in a secondary school setting
- Familiarity with learning management systems and educational technology

Work is performed primarily in a classroom and school campus environment, involving sustained interaction with minors, colleagues, parents, and visitors. The environment is dynamic and fast-paced, requiring frequent transitions between instructional, supervisory, and collaborative responsibilities. Noise levels may range from quiet to moderate and, at times, loud during passing periods, assemblies, or school events.
Faculty members should expect frequent interruptions, varying daily demands, and the need to respond appropriately to student behavior, safety concerns, and emergent situations consistent with school policies and applicable law. Work may occur both indoors and outdoors and may involve exposure to typical school-related environmental conditions, including weather variations during supervision duties or other school-related activities. The school is committed to maintaining a safe and supportive work environment and complies with applicable workplace safety standards.
The physical requirements described here are representative of those required of an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively, including speaking and hearing in the classroom and group settings, and to observe student behavior and learning activities. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and move throughout the classroom and campus facilities for extended periods.
The employee frequently uses hands and arms to handle, operate, and reach for instructional materials, equipment, and technology, including computers and classroom presentation tools. The position requires the ability to read and prepare written and digital materials, grade assignments, and maintain instructional records. The employee may be required to bend, stoop, kneel, or lift and carry instructional materials, supplies, or equipment weighing up to approximately 25 pounds. Faculty members may also be required to escort or assist students and to respond to situations that require immediate supervisory or safety-related action, consistent with school policies.
