POSITION OVERVIEW: As a Designer at LJA Land Development, you will be responsible for assists the design originator while investigating data for routine design efforts by applying engineering fundamentals. This position is responsible for providing project setup and design support to the project team for engineering projects.
A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE:
  • Take an entitled Site Plan and perform basic infrastructure layout
  • Understand and Identify construction details
  • Set up and maintain the project's coordinate system with Surveying Department
  • Understanding of typical survey components required on the plan set
  • Basic Grading and Infrastructure Design
  • Calculate quantities and material take-offs
  • Redline Design/Check/QAQC plan sets for CAD Techs
  • Maintain and organize design Project Folders and appropriate documentation
  • Other assigned duties as required

REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of technical school training in civil engineering with courses in computer-aided drafting or equivalent experience
  • Autodesk Certified Professional in Civil 3D for Infrastructure Design is a plus, but not required

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 3 or more years of extensive drafting and engineering technician experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D for civil design site/land development
  • Technical knowledge of CAD operations and civil engineering
  • Use of non-CAD Civil Engineering Design Tools (spreadsheets, Pipe System design, Stormwater design)
  • Effective communication skills both oral and written
  • Effective interpersonal skills with coworkers and public agency officials
  • Limited contact with outside agencies and project team members
  • Ability to build strong relationships
  • Must be flexible to changes in work assignments on short notice and/or on a daily basis as changes occur in project needs
