Christmas Market information

What is a Christmas market?

A Christmas Market job typically involves temporary seasonal work at a festive market, selling goods, food, or beverages, assisting customers, and maintaining stalls. Roles can include vendor assistants, food servers, cashiers, and event support staff. These jobs often require friendly customer service, basic cash handling skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, outdoor environment. They generally run from late November to late December, depending on the market's schedule.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Christmas market position, and why are they important?

To succeed as a Christmas Market Worker, you need strong customer service abilities, basic math skills for handling cash or sales, and experience in retail or food service is often preferred. Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems, food safety certifications (if serving refreshments), and knowledge of local products or handicrafts can be beneficial. Excellent communication, team collaboration, and adaptability in fast-paced, outdoor environments help individuals stand out. These skills ensure smooth market operations, satisfied customers, and a positive festive atmosphere during the busy holiday season.

What is it like to work at a Christmas market during the holiday season?

Working at a Christmas market is a lively and often fast-paced experience, with shifts commonly spent outdoors in festive surroundings. Employees typically engage in tasks such as selling holiday goods, preparing food or drinks, restocking items, and assisting customers with gift selections. Teams are generally close-knit, collaborating to keep stalls running smoothly and to create a welcoming environment for visitors. While the pace can be demanding—especially on weekends or evenings—the atmosphere is cheerful, and roles often offer valuable experience in retail, hospitality, and customer service. Many find the opportunity to interact with diverse guests and be part of a seasonal tradition both rewarding and enjoyable.

This role serves as Genesis Motor America's primary field representative to dealer principals and leadership teams, translating brand strategy into measurable results. The Sales Market Manager drives new and certified pre-owned sales, digital retail execution, facility and program compliance, and dealership profitability. HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

  • Drive sales performance through stronger digital retail, lead management, local market activation, and retail conversion discipline.
  • Partner with dealers to improve inventory health, wholesale execution, pricing discipline, and overall market competitiveness.
  • Escalate risks early and coordinate cross-functionally to remove barriers, accelerate performance, and deliver commitments.
  • Exercises independent judgment in diagnosing dealer performance issues, setting priorities, and recommending actions to improve sales, profitability, and customer experience.
  • Authorized to make field decisions on dealer support, customer escalation resolution, vehicle allocation input, and program execution within established guidelines.
  • Expected to challenge dealer leaders constructively, influence decisions with data, and hold partners accountable to agreed action plans and Genesis standards.
  • Uses sound business judgment to balance short-term results with long-term brand health, dealer capability, and retail performance.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE
  • High school diploma required.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • 6+ years of experience with automotive dealerships, OEM field operations, sales operations, or dealer development required.
  • Luxury or premium brand experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven success influencing dealer leadership and improving KPI performance across sales, CPO, market share, customer experience, or profitability.
  • Experience in digital retail, lead management, and sales conversion strategies preferred.
  • Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills with the ability to turn data into action.
  • Executive-level communication and presentation skills with credibility across dealer principals and senior leaders.
  • Strong planning, prioritization, and follow-through in a fast-paced field environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint; experience with CRM, reporting, and dealer performance tools preferred.
  • Ability to influence without direct authority and drive accountability across cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Valid driver's license required.
WHAT HYUNDAI CAN OFFER YOU
  • Compensation Range: $80,000 - $120,000 annual base salary
  • Monthly Hyundai/Genesis vehicle lease allowance (including insurance and maintenance)
  • Holiday Pay - the company shuts down with pay between Christmas and New Years.
  • Vacation and sick time off
  • Healthcare insurance (medical, dental, and vision)
  • 401(K) company match
  • Additional 401(K) Employer Enhanced Contribution program - eligible after 1 year of employment, in addition to the regular employer matching contribution
  • Basic life insurance, short- and long-term disability
  • Mental health, wellbeing, and employee assistance program
  • Health advocate (coordinate care and services, assistance with claim and billing issues, understanding Hyundai benefits)
