Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the YMCA of the Rockies, Snow Mountain Ranch, which operates a mission-based family and group conference, retreat center, and residential camp serving more than 50,000 guests annually. The HVAC Technician will install, maintain, diagnose and repair all HVAC systems across Snow Mountain Ranch.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Troubleshoot, identify and diagnose building mechanical systems including but not limited to heating, cooling and refrigeration systems.
  • Capable of repairing and/or installing proposed diagnosis.
  • Responsible for planning, laying out and overall efficiency at project repair and/or installation.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and wiring diagrams.
  • Clean, adjust and repair systems, and perform warranty services.
  • Perform emergency repairs promptly and efficiently.
  • Provide technical direction and on-the-job training.
  • Keep daily logs and records of all maintenance functions.
  • Conduct regular preventive maintenance inspections and task on HVAC equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with appliance standards and with Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Comply with service standards and work instructions.
  • EPA 608 certification required.
  • Possess stamina to work in the work environment described herein.
  • Possess a valid, USA state-issued driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, and comply with YMCA driving rules to be approved to operate YMCA vehicles.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 1+ year experience as an HVAC technician, and willingness to continue education in HVAC field.
  • Understanding of advanced principles of air conditioning, refrigeration and heating.
  • Working knowledge of boiler systems.
  • Proficient in balancing air and water treatment systems in line with HVAC protocols.
  • Assist with guest queries.
  • Assist Buildings and Grounds Department in areas of general maintenance as needed. 
  • If living on property, will be on-call at least one night each week.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in reading schematics and work plans.

  • Able to work well with frequent interruptions in a busy office environment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually fairly high.
  • Ability to climb stairs and frequently get up and down from desk.
