Description

This position assists the Office of Marketing & Communications with graphic layout and design, ad creation, reprints, photography and file archiving and organization. 

The Office of Marketing and Communications tells the stories of Messiah University and designs The Bridge magazine, prospective student materials and many publications that are sent off campus, the University website and official social media channels. 

$8.50/hour, 10 hours/week (M-Th)

Education Preferred

We prefer that student designers have taken at least one college-level graphic design class or a design portfolio that demonstrates commensurate experience.

Experience Required

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)

     for print-focused design

Experience Preferred

  • Digital photography of people
  • Basic proficiency using a DSLR or mirrorless camera (understanding of focus, exposure, and shooting in manual or semi-manual modes)
  • Working knowledge of photo editing software such as Adobe Lightroom and/or Photoshop

Primary Duties

  • Graphic layout and design support as assigned, including ad resizing, ad creation and file updates for reprints using Adobe InDesign.
  • Clear and professional communication with on-campus clients via our project management systems. 
  • Preparing files for press.
  • Final file archiving.
  • Edit photos from other student photographers to determine the best to upload into the University's photo management system.
  • Take photos of people or events when necessary using DSLR camera.
  • Maintain consistent schedule and reliable attendance.

Secondary Duties

  • Capture photography of special events and situations on-campus under the direction of the Creative Director.
  • Curate, add keywords and tags, and organize photography and videography for University's digital asset library.
  • Office organization and filing.
  • Other duties as assigned.
