Job description

Job Title: Maintenance Technician (Carpenter)
Department: Facilities
Reports To: Maintenance Manager
Status: Full Time, Year-round, Hourly

Summary:
Assist in any/all aspects of the maintenance of Camp Cho-Yeh assets across multiple trades disciplines with a specialization in carpentry.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Ability to perform carpentry and finish tasks of varying types and styles throughout the facility. Examples include but are not limited to: deck construction and repair, siding and framing installation/repair, tile and floor installation/repair, drywall repair.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the Maintenance Manager, other members of the facilities team, other staff members, and guests to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Ability to effectively execute various maintenance and repair tasks across multiple trades while utilizing stellar safety methods and techniques to maintain a good safety record.
  • Ability to work effectively in an individual and group setting.
  • Ability to perform difficult, physically demanding work in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to execute periodic weekend and after-hours maintenance coverage with minimal direction and assistance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
Associate's degree from an accredited college or certification from a technical school preferred. Minimum 2 years experience in related fields, 5+ years experience preferred.
Other Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to guests and employees of the organization. Bilingual Spanish/English given preference. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume as well as ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use fingers and hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and distance vision. At times expected to work outdoors on projects in varying weather conditions.
