BECOME A CRITICAL CARE - RESOURCE POOL REGISTERED NURSE (RN) AT CHKD
Join CHKD as a Critical Care Resource Pool Registered Nurse (RN) and become part of a trusted, high-performing team that supports multiple pediatric critical care units. In this role, your assignments are aligned with your clinical strengths - giving you the opportunity to work at the top of your game while enjoying exceptional variety, flexibility, and career growth
You'll be supported by experienced General Care and Critical Care leaders, report directly to the Resource Pool Manager, and gain exposure to diverse, high-acuity environments that build confidence and expertise. This position is ideal for motivated, adaptable nurses who thrive on challenge, value professional development, and want to make a real impact in the lives of critically ill children.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Providing developmentally appropriate psychosocial and clinical care to pediatric patients.
  • Planning, delivering, and evaluating patient care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Monitoring patient conditions and responding appropriately to changes in clinical status.
  • Communicating and collaborating effectively with physicians, nurses, and all members of the healthcare team.
  • Supporting unit operations and maintaining flexibility to meet staffing needs.
  • Performing other duties as assigned to support patient care and hospital operations.

QUALIFICATIONS - Looking for at least 1 year of RN experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and work efficiently across multiple clinical settings.
  • Commitment to patient safety, quality care, and family-centered practice.

License and Certification Requirements:
  • Current Virginia Registered Nurse (RN) license or valid Compact State RN license.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and/or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.
  • RN specialty certification preferred.

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Associate Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Pediatric nursing experience preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Patient care environment with minimal exposure to excessive noise, dust, or temperature extremes.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions related to patient care activities may be expected.
