Calendar: Academic Year
Overall Objectives
Educates and nurtures students in a Chinese immersion environment following Yinghua Academy's mission, core values, and principles. Promotes critical thinking, civic engagement, historical understanding, and global awareness through meaningful and engaging social studies instruction.
Principal Roles & Responsibilities
Academic Program
  • Maintains a safe and nurturing Chinese immersion learning environment.
  • Follows curriculum pacing guides and lesson plans; delivers direct instruction and supports students in developing knowledge, analytical skills, and an appreciation for history, geography, civics, economics, and global studies.
  • Conducts student assessments in a variety of formats to monitor growth and mastery.
  • Works collaboratively with Academic Director(s) and grade level team members to plan lessons and share academic resources.
  • Attends grade-level academic events as scheduled.

Curriculum and Research
  • Prepares and regularly submits curriculum pacing and lesson plans.
  • Integrates current events and culturally responsive resources to enrich student learning.
  • Participates in all scheduled professional development.

Classroom/Behavior Management
  • Follows school-wide behavioral and safety guidelines and policies.
  • Applies school and classroom rules consistently and effectively.
  • Seeks guidance regularly from administration and Q-Comp lead teachers on behavior and classroom management strategies.

Program Compliance
  • Maintains accurate student records and proper documentation.
  • Prepares progress reports and completes all evaluations.
  • Attends all required safety and health training.
  • Follows all school policies and protocols.

Communication
  • Actively participates in grade-level and staff meetings.
  • Communicates expectations for academic performance, classroom behavior, and personal management to students.
  • Maintains timely and effective communication with parents.
  • Conducts parent-teacher conferences as scheduled.
  • Reads all school communications and responds to emails and phone calls in a timely manner.

Professional Conduct
  • Upholds professional and ethical standards in all interactions, maintaining confidentiality and respect in all matters, including student-related information and sensitive organizational topics.
  • Models and encourages all behavior outlined by the Board-approved Professional Conduct Policy.

Requirements
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Holds a valid Minnesota teaching license in Social Studies (5-12) or K-12 Chinese, or has the ability to obtain licensure through the Professional Educator Licensing & Standards Board.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet the school's standards for Chinese and English language proficiency.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate technology as an instructional tool.
  • Strong understanding of middle school pedagogy and adolescent development preferred.
