Our team includes former senior government officials, diplomats, and business leaders who provide highlevel counsel to Fortune 200 companies worldwide.

Role Overview:

Senior Member, Leadership Team for China/Indo-Pacific

We are seeking a senior leader to join the China/Indo-Pacific practice. The candidate will advise clients on all aspects of public policy and government relations, including anticipating political and economic shifts; providing counsel on trade and regulatory developments; resolving incountry issues; and liaising with government counterparts to ensure clients receive accurate insight into relevant policy. The role includes highlevel client service and business development responsibilities. The ability to contribute to McLarty's work in other IndoPacific markets is strongly desired.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Advisory: Provide actionable, seniorlevel counsel to Csuite executives on political, economic, and social trends in China/Indo-Pacific.
  • Portfolio Management: Oversee client engagements and ensure excellence in service delivery, including political risk assessments and government relations strategies.
  • SeniorLevel Connectivity: Leverage an existing, active network of highlevel contacts in government, multilateral institutions, and the private sector.
  • Business Development: Identify and pursue opportunities with new and existing clients; lead proposal development; represent the firm at pitches and industry forums.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor China/Indo-Pacific team members; collaborate across McLarty and Ankura practices globally; contribute to thought leadership and internal initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 15+ years in international affairs, government service, or strategic consulting.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to manage complex, politically sensitive client engagements.
  • Policy Expertise: Recognized expert on China/Indo-Pacific policy, with strong analytical capabilities to navigate complex regulatory environments and shifting political dynamics.
  • Regional Expertise: Experience in additional geographies in Asia; strong understanding of the implications of China/Indo-Pacific global influence.
  • Presence: Exceptional communication and presentation skills; ability to distill complex geopolitical issues into authoritative business insights.
  • Language & Education: Professional fluency in English and Chinese required. Advanced degree (M.A., MBA, JD, or related field).

Based in Washington, DC, with frequent travel to China/Indo-Pacific
