Provide safe, welcoming, and developmentally appropriate care and supervision for infants, toddlers, and older children, during weekend and occasional weekday or evening events at First Unitarian Society. Nominally 2 hours per week, Sunday mornings, 10:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m., potentially longer on some Sundays. Additional hours available for weekend events like weddings, memorial services, and congregational events like summer and winter solstice celebrations, and the annual meeting. Part of a rotating team of childcare providers. Hours and frequency are determined by the size of the team along with the scheduling needs and preferences of the team and First Unitarian Society.

Facilitate and participate in age-appropriate activities with the children, such as games, roleplaying, reading and storytelling, songs and finger plays, or simple crafts.
Assist children in attaining age-appropriate skills such as self-care, care of belongings, manners, cooperation, and engaging in community.
Maintain a space that is physically and emotionally safe. Zero tolerance for physical discipline. No aggressive, threatening, or hostile communication, whether verbal or nonverbal.
Report concerns, problems, accidents, and suggestions to the Ethical Education Director immediately.
EDUCATION
High school diploma strongly preferred. Some college preferred, in child development, education, or a related field.
