The Lakin Child Development Center is taking applications for an anticipated Child Care Associate. The starting wage is $15/hr, student workers $12/hr. 
CHILD CARE ASSOCIATE

GLENWOOD COMMUNITY SCHOOLS CLASSIFIED STAFF JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Child care Associate  

Qualifications:             

        Previous experience working with children.

        High school diploma or equivalent.

        Good communication skills with the public.

        First-Aid / CPR certified

        Provide an acceptable criminal records check.

Essential  Function: Ability to lift 35 lbs., works flexible hours, and has regular attendance.

Reports To: Lead teacher, Coordinator, OnSite Supervisor 

Consults With: Parents, staff

Position Goal: To provide a safe, nurturing, and well-organized day care environment with developmentally appropriate activities in which children can learn and grow.

Performance Responsibilities:

.       Attendance is necessary to be successful in this position.

        Maintains open communication with parents at the beginning and end of the day.

        Helps with the feedings of children (bottle, jar food).

        Sees to the diapering needs of children.

        Engages in positive and age appropriate social interactions.

        Encourages playing and sharing harmoniously with other children.

        Maintaining proper child discipline in accordance to the Kids Place discipline policy.

        Maintains daily infant or toddler report.

        Assists in maintaining orderly room.

        Attends monthly staff meetings.

        Keeps information related to individual children and families confidential.

        Knows how many children are with them at all times (outside, fire/tornado drills).

        Directs movement of children from place to place.

        Documents information about children for staff on next shift.

        Be knowledgeable of the emergency file and emergency procedures.

        Knows the tornado and fire procedures for the program and assists in the supervision of required drills.

        Be punctual in room and on the job prior to the start of the shift, and notify the Coordinator and/or OnSite Supervisor if you are to be late or absent.

        Performs other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment:  Wage schedules shall be subject to annual review and modification by the Glenwood Board of Education or through the collective bargaining process, where one exists. 

Evaluation:  Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Classified Staff Evaluation.

Position: Childcare Associate     (Ages 2-4)

Qualifications:             

        Previous experience working with children.

        High school diploma or equivalent.

        Good communication skills with the public.

        First-Aid / CPR certified

        Provide an acceptable criminal records check.

Essential Function:  Ability to lift 35-45 lbs., works flexible hours, and has regular attendance.

Reports To: Lead teacher, Coordinator, OnSite Supervisor 

Consults With: Parents, staff

Position Goal: To provide a safe, nurturing, and well-organized day care environment with developmentally appropriate activities in which children can learn and grow.

Performance Responsibilities:

.      Attendance is necessary to be successful in this position.

        Maintains open communication with parents at the beginning and end of the day.

        Fosters good eating habits and table manners through family style meals.

        Assists children with diapering/toileting and hand washing as needed.

        Engages in positive and age appropriate social interactions.

        Encourages playing and sharing harmoniously with other children.

        Maintains daily care report.

        Assists in maintaining orderly room.

        Attends monthly staff meetings.

        Keeps information related to individual children and families confidential.

        Knows how many children are with them at all times (outside, fire/tornado drills).

        Directs movement of children from place to place.

        Documents information about children for staff on next shift.

        Supervises as well as interacts with children on the playground, indoor gym, as well as the classroom.

        Maintaining proper child discipline in accordance to Kids Place discipline policy.

        Assumes responsibility for play equipment.

        Organizes group games and activities.

        Be knowledgeable of the emergency file and emergency procedures.

        Knows the tornado and fire procedures for the program and assists in the supervision of required drills.

        Be punctual in room and on the job prior to the start of the shift, and notify the Coordinator and/or OnSite Supervisor if you are to be late or absent.

        Performs other duties as assigned.
