Job description

Be the Reason a Child Smiles Today.

YSS is looking for energetic, caring, and dependable Kids Club Program Assistants! At Ledges Elementary School, you'll help create a safe, engaging, and fun environment for elementary-age children before school, after school, and on no-school days.

For many families, Kids Club is more than childcare—it's a place where children can learn, explore, build friendships, and feel supported. As a Program Assistant, you'll help create the experiences that make that possible.

Whether you're leading a game, helping with homework, serving a healthy snack, or simply being a positive role model, you'll play an important part in helping kids grow in confidence, skills, and connection.

What You'll Do...

  • Welcome kids as they arrive and help set the tone for a great day.
  • Lead games, activities, and adventures that spark curiosity and creativity.
  • Help with homework and cheer on academic wins—big and small.
  • Encourage friendships, teamwork, and positive social skills.
  • Create moments that help kids feel seen, supported, and successful.
  • Keep things running smoothly while balancing fun, safety, and structure.
  • Serve snacks, share laughs, and celebrate everyday achievements.
  • Partner with families and school staff to support each child's growth.
  • Leave each day knowing you've made a difference in a child's life.

This is not a complete list of the responsibilities of this position. Duties may change at any time.

Who Are You?

You enjoy working with children and creating positive experiences that help them learn, grow, and succeed. You're dependable, patient, and energetic, with the ability to balance fun and structure while building strong relationships with children, families, and coworkers in a safe, supportive environment.

Why YSS?

At YSS, we believe in creating opportunities for young people to thrive—and that starts with investing in the people who support them. You'll join a mission-driven team dedicated to building brighter futures for Iowa youth and families. We also offer:

  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Employee Recognition Program
  • Personal Wellness Programs
  • Pet Insurance Discounts
  • Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Qualified Employer
  • Retirement Savings Opportunities
  • Ongoing Training and Professional Development

If you're looking for meaningful part-time work where you can make a difference every day, we'd love to meet you.
