Job description

Student Services Assistant

Qualifications:

  • Ability to speak, understand, read, and write fluently in both English and Spanish
  • Knowledge of child development, understanding of nature of the child, good interpersonal skills, clerical skills which may include typing and keyboarding, and acquaintance with office and media equipment
  • Ability to perform the essential responsibilities

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Act as translator between Spanish-speaking families and school personnel
  • Assist students with administration of medication
  • Assist students in minor health-related necessities as necessary (checking blood sugar, etc.)
  • Assist in the implementation of the districts attendance policy and protocols
  • Contact parents regarding a sick child, to schedule parent teacher meetings, etc.
  • Assist front office staff when needed (answering phones, filing, managing visitors, etc.)
  • Prepare and submit forms and reports to the designated supervisor as necessary
  • Respond per system protocol to emergency and/or crisis situations
  • Assist or perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
