Job description

Child Care Assistant:
Responsible for assisting the Site Director/Assistant Site Director in all aspects of the daily operation of a program site.
Requirements:
Minimum age 16 (if under 18, must provide working papers).
High School Diploma or Equivelant preferred and/or substantial experience working with children under 13 years of age.
Must be able to relate well to children and adults.
Should be sensitive to the needs of others which encompasses a warm and friendly personality.
Must submit to an inquiry with the State Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment.
Must have fingerprints taken by local authority so it can be submitted to the Office of Children and Family Services.
Responsibilities:
Follow all CDC, OCFS and DOH guidelines as they apply to school age care programs.
Assist with tracking of arrival, departure and absences.
Assist with room arrangement.
Participate in and supervise activities.
Assist with snack preparation and setup.
Maintain cleanliness and order of all areas.
Report all accidents and incidents to the Site Director & document per standard procedures.
Assist with fire drills.
Attend staff meetings.
Maintain frequent communication with the Site Director.
Must attend and complete mandatory trainings.
Assist with planning.
Assist with ongoing parent communication, such as the newsletter.
Record timesheet per standard procedures.
Assume other duties as assigned.
No personal cell phone usage.
Secure site by checking identification of any person who is unknown to the site and picking up a child.
