Job description

At The Bancorp, we’ve spent more than 25 years driving innovation in the financial services industry. As one of the first banks to embrace fintech, we combine technology, expertise and a forward-looking approach to deliver creative, real-world solutions. We work side by side with our partners to help them grow and innovate with confidence. Across Fintech Solutions, Institutional Banking, Commercial Lending and Real Estate Bridge Lending, we provide the people, processes, technology and banking capabilities that turn bold ideas into outcomes.

Join a team that brings urgency and rigor to every challenge and plays a direct role in driving growth for our clients and the communities we serve.

The VP Technology Strategy & Operations role serves as a strategic partner, execution leader, and operating coordinator for the Technology organization. The role helps translate the CTO's vision into actionable priorities, strengthens governance and decision-making, and drives follow-through on key initiatives across platforms, infrastructure, cybersecurity, engineering, architecture, data, and enterprise technology operations.

  • Drives strategic planning and execution by partnering with the Technology leadership team to define annual and multi-year priorities, translate objectives into initiatives and milestones, and track progress against measurable outcomes.
  • Manages the operating rhythm by organizing leadership meetings, business reviews, steering committees, governance forums, agendas, pre-read materials, decision logs, and follow-up actions.
  • Prepares executive communications and materials for board updates, executive committee meetings, risk and audit forums, operating reviews, strategic planning sessions, and internal Technology communications.
  • Coordinates cross-functional execution across Technology, Operations, Risk, Compliance, Finance, Legal, Product, Data, Cybersecurity, and business teams to resolve issues, clarify ownership, and accelerate delivery.
  • Oversees the technology priority portfolio by tracking major technology programs, modernization efforts, transformation initiatives, vendor efforts, platform investments, risks, dependencies, timelines, budgets, and expected outcomes.
  • Supports financial, resource, and vendor discipline by partnering with Finance, Procurement, Legal, Risk, and Technology leaders on budget planning, forecasting, investment priorities, vendor spending, contract milestones, and cost optimization opportunities.
  • Strengthen technology risk and governance visibility by tracking audit findings, regulatory commitments, management action plans, operational risks, remediation efforts, and readiness for governance, audit, and examination activities.
  • Provides support and leadership to employees, project teams, and cross-functional resources by coordinating priorities, deliverables, and decision points without requiring direct reporting authority.
  • Influences Technology leaders and functional partners to align resources, resolve dependencies, and maintain execution discipline across Technology Leadership-sponsored initiatives.
  • Sets clear expectations, performance objectives, timelines, and accountability for technology workstreams in partnership with direct managers and HR policies.
  • Creates a collaborative, flexible, and energized work environment that enables trust, engagement, transparency, and shared ownership across teams.
  • Coaches and supports team members and workstream leads, escalating resource, performance, or prioritization concerns to appropriate direct managers as appropriate.

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Business, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in technology, financial services, enterprise operations, strategy execution, program management, business management, or a related leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting senior executives, leading enterprise initiatives, and driving accountability across all technology teams without always having direct authority.
  • Strong working knowledge of technology operating models, portfolio management, governance routines, risk and control practices, vendor oversight, and financial management.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technology topics into clear business language for executive and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to manage confidential information, exercise sound judgment, prioritize competing demands, and operate effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including high-level proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, and collaboration tools.
  • Preferred: experience in a regulated financial institution or similarly complex, risk-sensitive enterprise environment.
  • Preferred: experience with technology modernization, data, Data Warehouse, application delivery, or enterprise architecture initiatives.
