Job description

Orthopedic Surgical Partners is a respected and growing orthopedic practice with locations in Rocky Hill, Manchester, Avon, and Willimantic. We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Full-Time Medical Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with our physicians and physician assistants to provide exceptional patient care in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Intake: Efficiently room patients, collect detailed medical histories, medications, and chief complaints, and accurately input information into the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Chart Preparation: Gather prior medical records, review office notes, radiology reports, health history, and medications to ensure comprehensive patient charts.
  • Clinical Support: Assist in preparing patients for examination and procedures, including undressing wounds and assisting with setup for treatment.
  • Orthopedic Support: Fit patients with orthopedic braces and ensure proper documentation is completed for billing purposes.
  • Surgical Coordination: Schedule surgeries, manage medical clearances, ensure radiology images and prior authorizations are obtained before surgery dates.
  • Referral Management: Process physician referrals by sending and receiving health information, incorporating it into patient medical records as necessary.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 1 year of clinical medical experience.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evening and weekend shifts at our walk-in centers.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology, medical insurance requirements (including workers' compensation), and basic computer skills.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to HIPAA guidelines and patient confidentiality.
