Executive Assistant

NRECA is a unique national trade association providing advocacy, financial services and business support services to over 900 consumer owned electric cooperatives across the country. NRECA employees are united by our mission, inclusive culture, collaborative workplace and commitment to service excellence. As a "best place to work" employer, we operate with integrity, transparency and a spirit of innovation. This Position is located in Arlington, Virginia and reports to the office five days a week.

We are seeking an experienced and highly professional Executive Assistant to provide confidential, high-level administrative support to the Chief Operating Officer (COO). This role is critical to the effectiveness of the COO and requires exceptional judgment, organization, technology-savvy and proactive problem-solving skills. This role additionally works as part of a team with two other executive assistants who support the CEO and board of directors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide confidential, high-level administrative support to the COO, including complex calendar management, scheduling, travel coordination, and expense reporting.
  • Anticipate and resolve scheduling conflicts; prepare the COO for meetings and speaking engagements with agendas, briefing materials, and talking points.
  • Coordinate special projects and high-level meetings by collaborating with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to develop plans, communications, and follow-through.
  • Develop speaking presentations and compile background materials
  • Maintain accurate records, budgets, and files across NRECA systems; document procedures to ensure business continuity.
  • Support COO preparations for board, committee, and affiliated meetings; serve as a trusted liaison with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

Formal Education Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience

Experience and Certifications Required:

  • 8+ years of executive-level administrative support experience.
  • Proven experience working with senior leaders
  • Familiarity with government, Capitol Hill, association, or industry environments preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required (as demonstrated by prior work experience):

  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with strong judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, anticipate needs, and meet competing deadlines with attention to detail.
  • High emotional intelligence, collaborative mindset, and commitment to service excellence.
  • High level of Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to quickly adopt additional new technologies.
  • Ability to work full-time onsite at NRECA's Arlington headquarters.

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.
  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
