Description:

Chief Operations Officer (COO)

Operational Leader & Organizational Integrator

Location: Maryland/DC/ Virginia

Reports to: Reina Offutt, Visionary/Owner

RTR Pilates is the standard of excellence in contemporary reformer Pilates, serving as the premier boutique studio in the Maryland, DC and Virginia area. Rooted in the belief that positivity thrives through meaningful connections, we foster an environment where wellness meets community. Our studio is dedicated to empowering individuals to achieve their fitness goals while building lasting relationships and spreading joy along the way. RTR Pilates is a place to thrive, and we are looking for an exceptional leader to help us scale our footprint.

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a strategic operational leader responsible for executing our long-term growth strategy. The COO is responsible for maximizing profitability, scaling company performance, and building an environment that delivers a market-leading customer experience. This is a rare, exciting opportunity to take a 20-year legacy brand and aggressively multiply its footprint.

Operating as the "Integrator" within our Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS), the COO serves as the single point of accountability for RTRโ€™s leadership team. This leader creates clarity, communication, consistency, and accountability across all studio locations; harmonizes the leadership team; removes barriers to execution; and turns big-picture vision into operating reality.

The CEO/Visionary & COO/Integrator Partnership

The CEO (Visionary) and the COO (Integrator) operate as a highly collaborative, complementary pair. The CEO owns the long-term vision, brand identity, major relationships, and creative expansion concepts. The COO works collaboratively with the CEO to co-develop long-term strategic plans and takes full ownership of execution, leadership team management, and day-to-day operations. Success in this seat depends on a healthy, trust-based partnership, including disciplined, private alignment sessions to ensure the leadership team always receives unified direction.

Requirements:

  • Core Values Fit: Demonstrably aligned with RTRโ€™s Core Values. We screen for cultural alignment and behavioral fit first.
  • Executive Experience: 5โ€“8+ years of senior operational leadership experience (COO, VP of Operations, or equivalent) with a proven track record of setting ambitious targets, achieving results, and successfully scaling a multi-location company.
  • Industry Background: Proven success growing a business within the boutique fitness, luxury hospitality, or an analogous premium, high-touch customer service industry where client retention is paramount.
  • Financial Mastery: Strong financial acumen with extensive experience managing multi-million dollar P&L statements, budgeting, and performance analysis.
  • Education: Bachelorโ€™s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Finance, or a related field is preferred; an equivalent track record of exceptional operational leadership will be fully considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Operating System Framework: Prior experience working within an EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) environment is a plus, though a strong willingness to learn and adopt the framework is acceptable.
  • Characteristics: Steady and even-keeled under pressure; a calming, stabilizing, and highly organized presence who has the emotional intelligence to hold people firmly accountable while maintaining healthy, trusting professional relationships.
  • Logistics: Full-time role requiring local, in-person presence within the DMV area.

Major Roles & Responsibilities

1. LMA (Leadership, Management, Accountability):

  • Act as the central operational leader and Integrator. Lead, manage, and hold the leadership team accountable to core metrics and the RTR brand standard.
  • Build and protect leadership team health: establish vulnerability-based trust, healthy conflict around ideas, genuine commitment, peer accountability, and a collective focus on company results.

2. Remove Obstacles and Barriers:

  • Proactively identify and clear the obstacles, bottlenecks, and competing priorities that slow the team down, so department leaders can execute their rocks and hit their numbers.

3. P&L Ownership & Financial Oversight:

  • Assume full responsibility for the company's profit and loss statement and overall operating performance.
  • Ruthlessly analyze and optimize studio-level and corporate expenses, identify revenue-driving opportunities, maximize asset utilization, and maintain a disciplined focus on ROI and cost containment

4. Market Expansion & Scaling:

  • Drive the New Studio Opening (NSO) blueprint and expansion playbook to scale operations smoothly into new regional markets.
  • Partner with the leadership team to define expansion strategy, ensuring the operational readiness of new regions and the seamless integration of new studios into the existing ecosystem.

5. Strategic Plan Execution:

  • Partner with the CEO and leadership team to co-develop, refine, and execute the companyโ€™s long-term Strategic Plan (Vision/Traction Organizer)
  • Translate long-term strategy into actionable 90-Day Strategic Initiatives (Rocks) and clear, weekly metrics (Scorecards) for the entire organization to follow.

6. Special Projects & Innovation:

  • Spearhead high-impact corporate special projects, including leveraging effective technologies and automation tools to streamline repetitive administrative tasks across workflows.

Compensation & Benefits Package ($220,000 - $250,000+ On-Target Earnings)
  • Base Salary: $165,000 โ€“ $175,000 competitive executive base salary tailored to experience, qualifications, and degree.
  • Revenue-Based Performance Incentives: An annual executive bonus plan structured around hitting network revenue milestones and quarterly strategic goals. This plan offers an additional 30% to 50% performance upside on top of base salary,
  • Benefits Package: Comprehensive health insurance (medical, dental, vision), a 401(k) retirement plan with company match, and Paid Time Off (PTO) / holiday allotments.
