Job description

Chief Medical Officer (CMO)Role Summary

Are you a forward-thinking physician leader with a passion for expanding access to high-quality behavioral health care? We are seeking an innovative Chief Medical Officer to lead a dedicated clinical team in a collaborative, inclusive, and psychologically safe environment. In this executive-level role, you will be the primary architect of clinical excellence, overseeing medical and psychiatric services for a large-scale inpatient facility. You will thrive as a strategic partner, driving the mission of patient-focused recovery while fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.

Duties
  • Innovative Leadership: Direct and coordinate all psychiatric and medical services, conducting supervisory meetings and unit rounds to ensure resources are utilized effectively to meet patient care goals.

  • Strategic Partnership: Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and implement the organization's strategic direction, ensuring clinical initiatives align with long-term objectives.

  • Talent Development: Lead and transform clinical leadership into high-performing, collaborative teams; provide direct supervision and guidance to subordinate physicians and professional service staff.

  • Regulatory Stewardship: Ensure the medical department remains in full compliance with all state and federal laws (including RCW and WAC), professional standards of practice, and accrediting body requirements (The Joint Commission and CMS).

  • Data-Driven Innovation: Utilize modern technology and data reporting systems to foster performance improvement and align clinical practices with organizational standards.

  • Clinical Consultation: Provide expert consultation on clinical matters related to nursing, rehabilitation, and other professional services to ensure holistic patient care.

  • Facility Presence: Maintain high visibility through rounding, case conferences, and direct supervision of care delivery throughout the facility to ensure policy consistency and staff support.

Required Qualifications
  • Licensure: A valid license to practice medicine and surgery in the State of Washington.

  • Board Certification: Certification in General Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

  • Experience: Demonstrated medical executive leadership experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

  • Travel: Ability to travel occasionally between facilities and headquarters as needed.
