Job description

Harrison Street Asset Management ("HSAM") is a leading global alternative investment management firm focused on real estate, infrastructure, and credit strategies across North America and Europe. Headquartered in Chicago, Toronto, and London with offices across North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East, the firm has over $108 billion in assets under management on behalf of institutional investors and registered investment advisors globally.

Founded on a culture of innovation, HSAM is an early mover in alternative real estate and mid-market infrastructure. Today, the firm's global team, consisting of more than 520 professionals, is committed to creating long-term value through deep sector expertise and forward-thinking strategies.

Harrison Street is seeking to hire a Content Specialist within the Innovation Department, reporting to the Chief Innovation Officer. This individual will be responsible for capturing, structuring, and maintaining the Firm's institutional knowledge as it is translated from human expertise into AI-enabled systems. The Content Specialist will extract insights from professionals across the organization and convert them into high-quality inputs that inform the development and continuous improvement of proprietary AI models. In addition, this role will support the development of internal and external-facing materials, including case studies and narrative content, that highlight the Firm's use of AI tools and techniques for key stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

Institutional Knowledge Capture & Documentation

  • Aid in capturing, documenting, and structuring institutional knowledge from subject matter experts across the Firm, including investment, asset management, portfolio management, and Impact teams
  • Ensure consistency, clarity, and accuracy in all documented materials
  • Help build and maintain a living knowledge architecture that serves as the foundation for the Firm's AI models

Meeting Transcription & Synthesis

  • Transcribe and summarize notes from key management, investment, and strategy meetings
  • Work with the Chief Innovation Officer to identify recurring themes, insights, and decision logic across discussions and initiatives
  • Organize and maintain a searchable, well-structured knowledge base that preserves the Firm's collective institutional judgment

AI Model Collaboration

  • Work closely with engineering and data teams as AI models are trained, tested, and refined
  • Assist in updating and curating content as models evolve and new insights are generated
  • Serve as a quality bridge between human expertise and machine interpretation, ensuring fidelity between what professionals know and what models learn

Thought Leadership & Communication Support

  • Assist the Chief Innovation Officer in developing marketing and communications materials related to the Firm's AI strategy and applications
  • Draft case studies, internal briefings, and stakeholder-facing narratives demonstrating the practical use of AI tools and techniques
  • Support broader firm-wide storytelling around innovation and institutional knowledge, helping articulate the Firm's differentiated approach to AI in investment management
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, English, or a related field
  • 1-3 years of experience in writing, content development, research, marketing, or communications
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and synthesis skills, with the ability to translate complex ideas into clear, structured content
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Interest in AI, knowledge management, and emerging technologies (direct technical experience not required)

Preferred

  • Prior experience in financial services, investment management, or real estate
  • Familiarity with AI/ML concepts, large language models, or knowledge management systems
  • Experience with transcription, interview-based research, or qualitative data synthesis

Competencies

  • Synthesis & Translation - Ability to distill complex investment and technical concepts into clear, accessible, and actionable content
  • Intellectual Curiosity - Genuine interest in learning how AI systems work and how institutional knowledge can be encoded into intelligent models
  • Precision & Fidelity - Meticulous attention to detail; commitment to ensuring documented content accurately reflects expert judgment
  • Storytelling - Strong narrative instincts with the ability to craft compelling content for both internal and external audiences
$60,000 - $100,000 a year
For Illinois Only: The expected base salary range for this position is $60,000 to $100,000. Actual salaries may vary based on a number of factors, including skills, experience, and qualifications.
