Job description

Job Title: Laboratory Technician - Seasonal                                           Department: Quality

Classification:  Non-Exempt/Hourly                                                        Reports to: Laboratory Manager  

Job Qualifications:                                                                                       

  1. Preferred but not required BA/BS in Chemistry, Biology, or related field; or related experience.
  2. Excellent, communication skills, be strongly detail oriented and be able to easily multi-task.
  3. Must be able to effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisor and management.
  4. Must be able to work independently and as a team member.
  5. Follow written (Standard Operating Procedures -SOP’s, company memos & emails) and verbal Instructions.
  6. Familiarity with lab equipment operation and SOPs.
  7. Possess a strong work ethic to positively contribute to the company’s mission, vision, values and environmental policy and quality policy.
  8. Must have a positive attitude, support co-workers to obtain desired objectives, and assist others in their contributions.
  9. Ability to adapt to changing paces and processes quickly.
  10. Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (in required areas) for extended periods of time.
  11. Handle hazardous chemicals safely according to their MSDS’s and SOP’s.
  12. Attentive to the task and own surroundings.

Job Summary:

The purpose of this position is to analyze the samples presented in the lab by the company or customers.

Job Duties:

  1. Analyze incoming samples as per protocol and SOPs.
    • Sample preparation of leaf hops, cryo products, pellets
    • Moisture analysis by air oven or distillation
  2. Laboratory team member
    • Assist in maintaining cleanliness and appearance of lab
    • Follow safety requirements
  3. Perform other duties within the company as required.
  4. Continuously look for ways to improve process efficiency and notify immediate supervisor of observations and recommendations.
  5. Handle food products safely.
  6. Maintain sanitary and safe work environment and follow safety requirements.
  7. May actively participate on company’s Safety Committee.
  8. Ensure that company safety policies as well as federal, state and local safety and environmental regulations are observed.
  9. Must have a complete understanding of company’s policies, Employee Handbook, SOPs, QPs, EPs, HACCP and cGMP that pertain to their department to ensure quality, safety, efficiency and sustainability.
  10. Must adhere to all company policies.
  11. Examine documents, materials, and products and monitor work processes to assess completeness, accuracy and conformance to standards and specifications.
  12. Follow all SOPs in a given area.
  13. Perform all other duties as assigned by Manager and/or designee.
