Job description

We are seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the comprehensive financial function of a large-scale distribution company. This position will serve as a strategic partner to the President and Board of Directors, with responsibility for financial planning, risk management, internal controls, capital structure, and long-term value creation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the company’s financial strategy, aligning profitability, liquidity, and growth objectives with the corporate vision.
  • Direct financial planning and analysis processes, including annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and variance analysis.
  • Oversee corporate controllership and ensure accurate and timely financial closings in compliance with US GAAP and applicable Puerto Rico regulations.
  • Manage the capital structure, banking relationships, credit facilities, and financing strategies.
  • Optimize working capital, with a focus on inventory, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and the cash conversion cycle.
  • Strengthen internal controls, financial risk policies, and tax, labor, and regulatory compliance.
  • Evaluate merger, acquisition, and capital investment opportunities, including financial due diligence.
  • Present financial results, key performance indicators, and strategic analysis to the Board of Directors and shareholders.
  • Lead the modernization of financial systems, including ERP platforms, business intelligence tools, and automation.
  • Develop and lead a multidisciplinary finance team while promoting financial discipline, proactive analysis, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain effective relationships with external auditors, regulatory agencies, insurance providers, and financial institutions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • Active CPA license or equivalent credential. CFA or CTP certification is a plus.
  • Twelve to fifteen years of progressive corporate finance experience.
  • At least five years of experience in a senior financial leadership position, such as CFO, Vice President of Finance, or Corporate Controller.
  • Demonstrated experience in large-scale distribution, retail, logistics, or manufacturing operations.
  • Strong background in working capital management, banking negotiations, and debt structuring.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms, as well as business intelligence tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of Puerto Rico tax and regulatory requirements.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
  • Excellent executive communication skills and experience presenting to Boards of Directors.
  • Strategic vision and the ability to translate financial information into business decisions.
  • Leadership and financial talent development.
  • Analytical rigor, integrity, and a strong results orientation.
  • Ability to perform effectively in high-volume, narrow-margin environments.
  • Strong negotiation skills with banks, financial providers, and investors.
