Our core departments-Education, Community Safety, Mental Health, Community Health, and Immigration & Advocacy-deliver critical, culturally responsive services that uplift and support the strength and dignity of our community.


Status: 

Hours vary from 2-12 Hours/Week, Part-Time


Position Summary: 

Enlace Chicago community schools extend their walls into the community by coordinating classes, resources, events and opportunities for leadership development, academic support/enrichment, recreation, and health/nutrition and community engagement. Enlace Chicago community schools include Little Village Lawndale High School Campus, Farragut Career Academy, McCormick Elementary School, Cardenas Elementary School, Eli Whitney Elementary School, and Madero Middle School .


Instructors are responsible for leading a class size of 10-20 participants, classroom size varies. The instructors are responsible for lesson planning, class proposals, supply lists, daily attendance, and classroom management. Instructors will be expected to provide a safe and welcoming environment where participants can express their thoughts and interests while developing/strengthening relationships among each other and learning to feel ownership of their learning.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Monitors student's performance.
  • Plans and facilitates activities.
  • Adapts teaching methods to meet students/adult participants' needs.
  • Facilitates programs promoting professional and respectful behavior as well as good manners.
  • Takes initiative in supporting youth through ongoing, one -to-one relationships.
  • Provides a genuine interest and concern for the wellbeing and success of all youth.
  • Educates participants on the principle of respect towards oneself and everyone around them by setting clear expectations and ongoing positive examples.
  • Creates and maintains a program culture that is conducive to meaningful learning.
  • Reflects no ethnic, racial, religious, political, or gender bias.
  • Attends meetings with Resource Coordinator and others as necessary.
  • Helps youth develop leadership skills, positive self-image, confidence and self respect.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Experience facilitating programs and sports coaching.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Must be willing to become a mandated reporter.
  • Relevant experience working with youth.
  • Bilingual ( Spanish ) is a plus.
