Job description

BASIC FUNCTIONS

Prepare all incoming and outgoing shipments to customers and vendors. This individual has the responsibility and authority to carry out assigned tasks.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • Ensures Shipping and Receiving Department has capacity and capability to meet the needs of the business
  • Prepares shipments for postal or commercial conveyance; determines most economical and efficient shipping method; selects appropriate shipping container; packs items to ensure safe delivery.
  • Prepares bills of lading; checks items to be shipped against picking tickets to ascertain that quantities, destination, and routing are correct.
  • Receives and unloads incoming materials and compares information to receiving reports to verify priority; may process return shipments from customers.
  • Packages, labels, insure, and/or logs inventory which is shipped or received.
  • Inspects shipments for damages or defects; records discrepancies or damages and notifies supervisor and/or purchasing personnel.
  • Initiate and follow Carrier Transit Claims from submission to conclusion.
  • Package items for safe delivery to customers.
  • Check for special customer requirements for shipping.
  • Organize materials in shipping area.
  • Perform/Assist with receipt of incoming shipments.
  • Update Chemtrec portal with SDS documentation
  • Assist accounting with shipping invoices. Be able to pack and ship hazmat materials, including Haz Shipper software.
  • Comply with all requirements of the environmental management system.
  • Delegate workload to shipping/receiving associates.
  • Work with shipping company drivers on any changes to pick up times.
  • Communicate with internal departments on any open issues in a timely manner.
  • Order materials needed for the shipping department,
  • Routinely interface with global trades manager to ensure international shipment conformance.
  • Training S&R department on procedures and ensuring the teams skill competencies are able to support the business.
  • Maintains shipping paperwork. (Boxed/Scanned)
  • Participate in S&R performance reviews
  • Schedule work hours for employees to ensure coverage and reduce OT.
  • Adhere to Safety Manual requirements for Supervisor/Manager
  • Ensuring Shipping and Receiving is audit ready at all times.
  • Inform Director of Logistics of all work stoppages so that he can perform root cause analysis.
  • Maintain and contribute to a positive environment in the shipping department.

STANDARD REQUIREMENTS

Comply with all requirements of International Standard ISO9001 and ISO27001, NIST 800-171, CMMC โ€“ Cyber Security and Informational Data Security Requirements. Aerospace Management System Standards AS9100, AS9120, IDEA-QMS-9090, ASA-100 and supporting construct standards AS6081, IDEA-STD-1010, AC7402-CAAP, CCAP-101, FAA AC00-56, ANSI/ESD S20.20. All employees shall commit and comply with the requirements of AS5553 for Counterfeit Electrical, Electronic and Electromechanical (EEE) Parts โ€“ Avoidance, Detection, Mitigation and Disposition practices.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / COMPENTECY

  • High School Diploma
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in related field(s)
  • Ability to pay attention to great detail.
  • Prior knowledge of shipping/receiving techniques.
  • Proven/ demonstrated ability to lead a team.
