Chemours Discovery Hub site located in Newark, DE, has a R&D Thermal Scientist/Engineer position available in the Technology function.

In Thermal & Specialty Solutions, we harness next-generation, low-Global Warming Potential (GWP) technology to provide market driven innovations to customers in the areas of Refrigerants, Propellants, Fire Protection, Foam Blowing and Liquid Cooling. Heat transfer fluids for Thermal Management used in various systems for building and construction segments, Mobile and Stationary heating and cooling systems to name a few. Our technology organization consists of experts in the areas of fluorine, catalysis, process development, engineering, analytical and formulation science, and application development to name a few. This highly visible role will support R&D programs tied to two‑phase liquid‑cooling technologies—including immersion cooling and direct‑to‑chip—as well as other advanced thermal‑management applications.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Support R&D projects and activities involving two‑phase cooling for data centers and other applications aligned with strategic growth objectives.
  • Design, execute, and manage multiple parallel experiments in both laboratory and field‑trial environments focused on immersion cooling and direct‑to‑chip systems.
  • Analyze experimental data and communicate results and insights to technical leadership.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional Chemours teams, customers, and external partners.
  • Develop knowledge in fluorochemical science and related thermal‑management technologies.

The following is required for this role:- M.S. in Mechanical/Chemical Engineering or Chemistry with at least 2 years combined industry or academic experience in thermal management, refrigeration, or air‑conditioning applications; OR

  • B.S. in Mechanical/Chemical Engineering or Chemistry with at least 5 years relevant industry experience in thermal management, refrigeration, or air‑conditioning applications.
  • Strong foundational understanding of refrigeration, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work >75% in laboratory settings, managing multiple parallel experiments and delivering results for time‑sensitive programs.
  • Strong initiative, independence, and self‑motivation, with the ability to adapt quickly and drive projects safely.

The following is preferred for this role:

  • Experience with refrigerants or liquid‑cooling systems, especially two‑phase based technologies.
