Job Summary
The College of Pharmacy, Department of Medicinal Chemistry is seeking a bioassay expert to join a multidisciplinary automated drug discovery lab developing technologies to improve global health. The candidate will support the development of in vitro bioassays to advance drug discovery programs for humans and endangered species. Ability to make and handle pure proteins is desirable, as is ability to work with cells in assay development and steward -omics studies to tease out biological mechanisms.
What You'll Do
The candidate will join a multidisciplinary research team using medicinal chemistry, AI, and organic chemistry to accelerate drug discovery. We perform high-throughput bioassays such as affinity selection mass spectrometry on pure proteins, fluorescence reporter assays on cell lysates or purified proteins, and whole cell assays based on dye reporters or other types of imaging. Biological mechanisms are studied through multi-omics techniques, and protein knock-down techniques. Your role will be to provide leadership in the development and execution of diverse chemical biology experiments to support this cutting-edge drug discovery research.
Required Qualifications*
Candidate must have a PhD and strong track record in biochemistry, cell biology or chemical biology. Ability to design and execute complex biological experiments using tools such as cell imaging, CRISPR, chemoproteomics, protein purification or structural biology are required.
