Job Summary
The College of Pharmacy, Medicinal Chemistry department is seeking a synthetic chemistry expert to join a multidisciplinary automated drug discovery lab developing technologies to improve global health. The candidate will support multistep synthesis campaigns accelerated by automation, which may include reaction modeling and partnerships with the pharmaceutical industry.
Responsibilities*
The candidate will join a multidisciplinary research team using synthetic organic chemistry to accelerate the invention of medicine. Now we wish to advance the multistep synthesis of complex molecules, such as natural products or pharmaceuticals, using modern AI-guided strategies. Creativity in synthesis design, and familiarity with the state-of-the-art in automated synthesis are required, as evidenced through a track record of publication. Partnerships with the pharmaceutical industry and our multidisciplinary team will require strong communication skills.
Required Qualifications*
Candidate must have a PhD and strong track record in organic synthesis. Ability to design and execute multistep synthesis campaigns of complex molecules, with an understanding of process chemistry objectives for optimization.
Desired Qualifications*
Programming skills in Python or R are desired.
