We are seeking a highly motivated Senior R&D Engineer to lead the development and commercialization of advanced manufacturing processes and technologies. This role will be responsible for process development, design-for-manufacturing (DFM), fixture and tooling design, customer technical engagement, and continuous improvement of specialized fabrication technologies including laser processing, heat-treat forming, Poly Iron, chemical milling, additive manufacturing, crystal growth, and advanced packaging solutions.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical depth with hands-on problem solving and cross-functional collaboration to develop innovative manufacturing solutions from concept through production.

Process&TechnologyDevelopment

• Develop,optimize,andqualifyadvancedmanufacturingprocessesincluding:
• Laserprocessing
• Heat-treatforming

• FloatZonecrystalgrowth

• Establishprocesscontrols,specifications,anddocumentationtoensurerepeatabilityandquality.

DesignforManufacturing(DFM)

• Partnerwithproductdesignengineerstoensuremanufacturabilityofnewproducts.
• ProvideDFMrecommendationsduringproductdevelopmentandNPIphases.
• Identifyprocesscapabilities,limitations,andcostdriverstooptimizeproductdesigns.

Tooling,Fixture,andProgrammingDevelopment

• Designfixtures,tooling,andmanufacturingaidstoimproveprocesscapabilityandthroughput.
• Developandmaintainmanufacturingprogramsandprocessrecipes.
• UtilizeCADtools,preferablySiemensNX,tocreatetoolingandmanufacturingdesigns.

Materials&ProcessCharacterization

• Conductprocesscharacterizationusinganalyticaltechniquessuchas:
• SEManalysis
• Cross-sectionanalysis
• Dimensionalmetrology
• Surfaceandmaterialcharacterization
• Supportmaterialsevaluationsandcrystalgrowthstudies.
• Analyzeexperimentaldataandpreparetechnicalreportsandrecommendations.

Customer&BusinessSupport

• Serveasatechnicalinterfaceforcustomersandinternalstakeholders.
• Supportcustomerdesignreviews,technicaldiscussions,andproblem-solvingactivities.
• Developtechnicalproposals,processestimates,andmanufacturingcostmodels.

• Experiencewithadvancedmanufacturingorsemiconductor-relatedprocesses.
• StrongunderstandingofDesignforManufacturing(DFM)principles.
• Experiencedesigningfixtures,tooling,andmanufacturingprocesses.
• Excellentproblem-solving,statisticalanalysis,andexperimentaldesignskills.
• Strongcommunicationskillswiththeabilitytointeractdirectlywithcustomersandcross-functionalteams.

Santa Rosa, CA Pay Range: MIN $138,000.00 - MAX $231,000.00
