Job Title: Chemist II – Composite Materials (R&D)

About the Role

Dura Technologies is seeking a full-time, exempt Chemist II to drive the research, development, and optimization of our high-performance composite materials. Reporting directly to the Technical Director, you will lead multiple innovation projects, formulate cutting-edge material solutions, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Your expertise will directly advance our position as a market leader in the aerospace, automotive, and marine composite industries.

What You Will Do

  • Formulate Materials: Design resins, adhesives, and fiber reinforcements with enhanced mechanical, thermal, and chemical properties.
  • Lead R&D Projects: Spearhead research projects focused on developing novel composite materials based on market needs.
  • Conduct Lab Testing: Operate advanced lab equipment (e.g., Instron, QUV weathering testers) for tensile, flexural, and impact testing.
  • Troubleshoot Production: Investigate formulation or manufacturing issues using root-cause analysis and reverse engineering.
  • Manage Compliance: Assist the Operations Manager with government reporting requirements, including AQMD, CARB, Stormwater, and Hazardous Waste.
  • Maintain Documentation: Create and update SDS/TDS sheets, technical lab reports, and formula databases (ISO, ECC).
  • Mentor Teams: Provide daily guidance and training to junior chemists and lab technicians to foster a collaborative environment.
