Duties and responsibilities(including but not limited to)

  • Putting away deliveries in designated location, labeling and dating them

  • Trash and cardboard removal

  • Washing dishes, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment, proper storage

  • Regular checks of upstairs kitchen needs, removal of dirty/clean pots/pans/plates

  • Communicating and coordinating daily tasks with other porters and Chefs

  • General sanitation of your work area and maintenance of common areas

  • Cleaning floors, shelves, walls, counters, trash areas in store, garbage areas & storage

  • Deliver friendly service to customers when approached by guests for assistance

  • Other duties, as requested and required


Qualifications

  • 1 year similar experience preferred

  • Strong communication abilities preferred

  • Focus on Customer Service and Team Work

  • Able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment

  • Able to lift and carry 50 lbs alone, or 50+ lbs with assistance

  • Able to use stairs

Working conditions

The Porter works in the main area of our retail store in Chelsea Market and in the staff and storage areas. This position requires coordination with retail managers and team members. Exposure to wet and slippery floors may occur. Heavy lifting, carrying and carting is a normal part of the job.

Essential Functions of the Job

While performing the duties of this job, it is required to stand for several hours at a time; walk; sit. The employee must occasionally lift or move kitchen products and supplies, up to 50 pounds. Days and hours of work vary and are generally assigned as a 40 hour per week schedule. This position regularly requires evening and weekend work. This is a full-time (occasionally part-time), FLSA non-exempt hourly position in the Kitchen at Chelsea Market at 75 9thAvenue.
