Job description

Lobster Place is seeking aSeafood Hall Serverfor our Chelsea Market operation comprising Lobster Place Seafood Hall & Retail Market. The Seafood Hall Server is the backbone of our operation, responsible for the sale and service of our guests all while delivering warmth and exceptional hospitality.

Located in the heart of Chelsea Market, Lobster Place is a unique operation comprised of the Michelin-Acclaimed Cull and Pistol Oyster Bar; a one-of-a kind seafood hall; and one of the most heralded seafood markets in NYC. An original tenant of Chelsea Market, Lobster Place has built a world-wide reputation for delivering exquisite-quality seafood and dining experiences that has made it the most popular destination in the Market.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Be knowledgeable of menu items and make recommendations

  • Deliver food and beverages from kitchen to guests in a timely manner

  • Ensure all guests consistently receive courteous, meaningful, and efficient service

  • Maintain a welcoming and orderly restaurant environment

  • Handle transactional duties

  • Training new team members

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Giving great first impressions by promptly greeting and creating meaningful connections with everyone who walks through Lobster Place doors!

  • Desire and dedication to learn

  • 1+ years' experience in a guest-facing restaurant role in a high-volume atmosphere

  • Friendly, outgoing, positive, and hardworking person

  • Possess the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment

  • Punctual, reliable, and must be able to work weekends

  • Work well with a team and communicate effectively

  • Ability to multi-task and problem-solve

  • Able to lift and carry 15 lbs.

Pay & Benefits:

  • Hourly Rate: $11.35/hr (plus up to $35/ hour in TIPS!)

Working conditions

  • This job operates in a professional restaurant or retail environment. This role routinely uses standard kitchen equipment including knives and appliances, primarily shucking tools. The workspace is small and open to the public at all times. The workspace is on two levels and ability to use stairs is required. Customer contact daily. Minimal travel required.
