Your new role

Reporting to the Manager, Project Controls, the Risk Management Lead is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the entire project risk management system. The role coordinates the identification, analysis, mitigation, and monitoring of risks related to engineering, construction, costs, schedule, supply chain, permitting, environment, safety, and external relations. The incumbent ensures consistency, rigor, and compliance of the risk register and acts as a senior advisor to project leadership and stakeholders.

Your key responsibilities:

1. Risk Management Governance and Strategy

Develop and maintain the project risk management framework, including processes, tools, and methodologies.

Ensure alignment with corporate policies, industry standards, and contractual requirements (EPCM, contractors, suppliers).

Establish and facilitate the risk governance structure: committees, periodic reviews, approvals, and escalation processes.

2. Risk Identification, Assessment, and Proactive Management

Facilitate risk identification workshops and perform qualitative and quantitative analyses (probability/impact, Monte Carlo simulations, cost and schedule contingency).

Define and recommend risk treatment strategies (mitigation, transfer, acceptance, or avoidance).

Monitor action plans and accountable owners, and integrate critical risks into project budgets, schedules, and contingencies.

3. Risk Register Management

Maintain a comprehensive, uptodate, traceable risk register that complies with project requirements.

Ensure data quality and integrity: classification, documentation, status, mitigation evidence, owners, and deadlines.

Prepare regular reports and dashboards for project leadership and corporate committees.

4. Communication and Leadership

Advise managers and superintendents on risks specific to their areas and proactively communicate critical risks and emerging trends.

Train teams and promote a rigorous, transparent, and preventionoriented risk management culture.

5. Compliance, Assurance, and Continuous Improvement

Conduct risk management compliance audits and contribute to continuous improvement through lessons learned.

Support the integration of operational risks with the operational readiness team.

What you'll need to succeed

University degree in engineering, project management, finance, risk management, or a related field.

Post-graduate certificate in Project Management or Risk Management is an asset 

Professional certification considered an asset (PMIRMP, PMP, CRMA, ISO 31000).

Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in risk management for large industrial, mining, or heavy construction projects.

Proven experience managing cost and schedule risks and coordinating with EPCM firms and major contractors.

Proficiency in risk modeling tools (Primavera Risk Analysis, @Risk, Safran Risk, or equivalent).

Bilingualism required.

Strong command of tracking and reporting tools (Power BI, advanced Excel, SharePoint, etc.).

Experience in engineering or industrial project environments (asset).

Mining sector experience (asset).
