$19.31 - $20.81 PER HOUR
GENERAL PURPOSE:
The purpose of this position is to assist the Cheese Sales Manager with selling Harmons' specialty cheese items by giving remarkable customer service, and ensuring the department maintains quality standards and profitability. This person will assist in maintaining product levels of all products in the specialty cheese department. This person will have a passion for cheese and the ability to share that passion with our associates and customers. This person will help determine production and inventory levels for the cheese department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Follows established departmental and store policies and procedures
  • Ensures the quality and freshness of all products and services the specialty cheese department provides
  • Ensures the department is cleaned and sanitized daily and meets the company standards for appearance
  • Assist with maintaining the appropriate product assortment and inventory levels for the department
  • Confirms pricing accuracy and signage for all products, paying particular attention to ad items
  • Delivers excellent customer service to all customers
  • Orders product, creates production sheets to meet needs based on past and projected sales
  • Cuts, wraps, shreds and packages all types of cheeses for presentation and sale in the specialty cheese department and leads others to maintain the same standards
  • Samples cheeses to customers and sells cheeses and products
  • Makes fresh mozzarella, parmesan crisps, and other production items
  • Stocks and sets up olive bar and oil station
  • Determines how much of each cheese should be pre-cut and packaged
  • Responsible for inventory and ordering for the cheese island
  • Sets a professional and positive example to others
  • Communicates openly and frequently with Store Director, Cheese Buyer and other Support staff
  • Provides honest, direct and constant feedback to associates regarding their performance and areas of improvement
  • Slices meats and cheeses to order, provides product suggestions, and assists customers with special orders
  • Ensures company standards for safety, sanitation, service and productivity are maintained
  • Continually strives to be product minded, customer minded, personnel minded, detailed, forward focused and consistent
  • Quarterly inventory of all specialty cheese products

MARGINIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS:

Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities:
A high school diploma or GED required; 1 year of restaurant or cheesemonger experience preferred; or any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • Current Food Handler's Permit
  • Must have the ability and willingness to learn about cheese, pairings and cooking techniques
  • Must enjoy working with and handling cheese products
  • Should have a passion for preparing, cooking and eating food particularly cheese items
  • Ability to read and follow a recipe
  • Ability to interpret policies and procedures
  • Excellent organization and planning skills
  • Must possess solid communication skills, including verbal and listening skills in order to effectively and efficiently communicate with customers and fellow associates
  • Ability to professionally and appropriately handle conflict
  • Must possess the ability to accept constructive review and be accountable for one's own success as well as the success of your team
  • Required to make logical, significant decisions using general, recognized skills and techniques
  • Must possess integrity, a positive attitude, be mission-driven, and be self-directed with a demonstrated passion for Harmons' mission and commitment to working collaboratively
  • Ability to work weekends, evenings and holidays

Also requires standing, walking and bending throughout the entire work day and the ability to maneuver heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds from location to location.
