Registered Nurse (RN) - Pre-Operative Calls
  • Facility: The Surgical Hospital at Southwoods
  • Location: Boardman, OH
  • Status: Full-Time (40 Hours per Week)
  • Schedule Options (Choose Your Preference):
    • Option 1: 4 Weekdays per Week | 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM | No weekends or major holidays
    • Option 2: 5 Weekdays per Week | 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM | No weekends or major holidays

Position Overview
The Surgical Hospital at Southwoods is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to conduct Pre-Operative Phone Calls. In this essential role, you will serve as a critical checkpoint in the patient journey by gathering vital clinical information prior to procedural encounters. Through structured pre-operative telephone assessments, you will review medical and surgical histories, verify current medications, and evaluate overall health status to ensure safe clinical outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Assessments: Perform thorough pre-admission telephone evaluations and determine the need for supplementary clinical data or clearance.
  • Anesthesia Collaboration: Partner directly with the anesthesia team to review complex records and determine patient appropriateness for the facility's specific scope and level of care.
  • EMR Documentation: Document highly detailed telephone assessments within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, including precise medication verification, allergy logging, and pre-op nursing instructions.
  • Order Entry: Accurately input required pre-operative physician orders into the clinical system as appropriate.
  • Patient Support: Address patient questions, clarify pre-surgical fasts or prep requirements, and provide compassionate reassurance to ease pre-procedure anxiety.
  • Privacy & Compliance: Maintain absolute patient privacy, protect confidential health information, and verify that all pre-op workflows maintain compliance with healthcare regulatory agencies.

Qualifications
  • Licensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Ohio.
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
