Key Responsibilities:
- Operations Management: Oversee daily customs clearance for air, ocean, and ground imports. Manage all interactions with US CBP, ISF, and CFS, including Remote Location Filing (RLF) and out-port entries.
- Financial Oversight: Ensure timely payment of all duty statements, ACH, and PMS in accordance with corporate guidelines for duty advancements.
- Compliance & Technical Expertise: Review and approve complex HTS classifications and valuation determinations. Assist with harmonized tariff research, binding rulings, and protests.
- Regulatory Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for CBP and other government agencies at local and national levels.
- Process Improvement: Develop and document standard operational processes to institutionalize best practices. Monitor performance metrics, including entry accuracy and clearance times.
- Customer Support: Educate clients on compliance requirements and collaborate with operations and customer service teams to resolve clearance issues.
- Strategic Leadership: Manage and mentor staff, conduct performance reviews, and handle hiring. Develop departmental goals aligned with the company vision and manage key client margins to drive improvement.
- 5-7 years of customs brokerage experience within a freight forwarding environment.
- 3-5 years of demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience.
- Active U.S. Customs Broker License (Required).
- Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) certification.
- Strong knowledge of HTS classification, valuation, PGA requirements, and trade regulations.
- Proficiency with ABI systems and brokerage software.
- 3-5 years of experience with CargoWise software.
- Excellent customer service and negotiation skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication with a high attention to detail.
After 90 days the position will allow a hybrid model. 3 days mandatory in the office. Two work from home days.
