Job description

AI Specialist

  • Seeking a contract AI Specialist (hybrid) to coordinate AI pilots, strengthen governance, and support responsible AI adoption across departments. 
  • This six-month role (with possibility of extension) combines strategic oversight with hands-on program support. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate AI pilots, establish success criteria, and track outcomes. 
  • Maintain and mature the AI governance framework in partnership with cybersecurity and other stakeholders. 
  • Maintain a Countywide inventory of AI tools, vendors, pilots, and use cases. 
  • Manage access, licensing, token consumption, and costs for enterprise AI platforms. 
  • Coordinate AI vendors, deliverables, demonstrations, and issue resolution. 
  • Lead AI Communities of Practice and departmental AI champions. 
  • Coordinate onboarding, training, guidance, and support for AI users. 
  • Help departments identify high-value AI opportunities and share successful practices. 
  • Track adoption, costs, business value, and measurable efficiency gains. 
  • Develop executive dashboards and provide updates to leadership. 

Desired Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 
  • 5+ years managing technology initiatives or enterprise software projects. 
  • Experience with generative AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Copilot, or Claude. 
  • Understanding of AI governance, privacy, cybersecurity, and responsible AI. 
  • Strong project management, communication, and stakeholder-management skills. Public-sector experience preferred.
