Spectrum News is seeking a Principal Product Manager I, AI to lead the development of innovative AI-powered products that enhance newsroom operations and audience engagement across TV, streaming, mobile, and digital platforms.

In this role, you will help set the strategic direction for AI initiatives, collaborate with diverse teams, and guide the delivery of responsible, cutting-edge AI solutions that support journalists and deliver rich, personalized experiences for our audiences.


How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Help define and own the AI product strategy and roadmap aligned with Spectrum News’ goals.
  • Translate editorial and business needs into clear, actionable product requirements for AI/ML and engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with Editorial, Technology, Audience Insights, Legal, and Governance teams to ensure AI products meet journalistic standards and audience trust requirements.
  • Lead development teams delivering AI features such as personalization, recommendations, content discovery, and newsroom productivity tools.
  • Establish product acceptance criteria covering performance, transparency, fairness, accessibility, and operational dependencies.
  • Evaluate emerging AI technologies and vendors for fit within a fast-paced, 24/7 news environment.
  • Champion responsible AI principles, ensuring products are ethical, transparent, and uphold editorial integrity.
  • Measure and analyze product impact using audience insights and analytics to support continuous improvement.
  • Foster strong relationships across teams to ensure timely and successful delivery of AI initiatives.
  • Communicate roadmap progress and product vision to executives and stakeholders.

What You’ll Bring to Spectrum

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years in product management or related roles, with experience in AI/ML, generative AI, or intelligent agent technologies.
  • Strong technical knowledge of AI/ML systems, software architecture, APIs, microservices, and data workflows.
  • Expertise in Agile workflows and tools, including Jira.
    Proven success collaborating across technical, editorial, and business functions.
  • Deep understanding of AI governance, privacy, and responsible AI practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to explain complex AI concepts clearly.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree.
  • Experience in media, telecom, broadcast, streaming, or digital content industries.
  • Familiarity with content management systems, vector databases, and workflow orchestration tools.
  • Experience with AI model evaluation, observability, and performance optimization.
  • Knowledge of personalization, recommendation engines, and content discovery products.
  • Passion for journalism, local news, and technology’s impact on trusted media.

The base pay for this position generally is between $110,800.00 and $196,400.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
