The University of Jamestown is seeking a reliable and professional Part-Time Charter Bus Driver to join our team. This is a 12-month position of 20 hours per week. This role involves operating charter buses for group events, tours, corporate outings, and other special trips. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, customer-oriented, and experienced in driving large vehicles, with a passion for providing excellent service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Commercial Driving: Operate university vehicles as needed, including buses, vans, and trucks. Ensure safe and efficient transportation of students, staff, and equipment to and from various locations.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Assist with routine maintenance and inspection of university vehicles. Coordinate with maintenance staff or external vendors to ensure timely repairs and upkeep.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Assist with maintaining accurate records related to vehicle maintenance, driver logs, and compliance documentation. Prepare and submit reports on transportation activities, safety incidents, and regulatory compliance.
  • Safety and Risk Management: Assist with implementation and enforcement of safety protocols to minimize risks and ensure the safety of passengers and drivers. Conduct safety drills and respond to accidents or incidents as necessary.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to university stakeholders, including students, staff, and faculty. Address any transportation-related concerns or issues in a professional and timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification in transportation management or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in transportation management, commercial driving, and DOT compliance. Experience in a university or institutional setting preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent driving skills and a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL).
  • Effective organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Certifications: Valid CDL with appropriate endorsements; DOT compliance certification or training is preferred.
