Admissions Support Specialist
Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute is seeking a part-time Admissions Specialist to perform admission functions to include bed management, patient admission, and data entry into the Patient Information Management System, hospital census daily update, and report generation. As part of the Admissions Department, this role is responsible for pulling individuals off the waitlists for a state psychiatric hospital bed and coordinating appropriately with community partners to ensure all legal and medical documents are obtained to proceed with clearance. It requires timely and frequent communication with both internal and external staff to include physicians, nurses, and Community Services Board (CSB). This position requires organization, ability to multi-task, strong communication, and customer service skills. The Admissions Department operates 24/7. The current opening is for a combination of evening, overnight, and weekend shifts. There is potential for this role to turn into a full-time position.
Experience in a healthcare setting required with patient registration and/or customer service Significant data entry experience required. Demonstrated experience with filing systems required. Prior experience with Microsoft Office including Excel required.
Experience working and interfacing with all levels of health care clinical staff preferred. Chart audit experience preferred. Medical Terminology coursework strongly preferred. Associate Degree or equivalent college courses in the Healthcare field preferred.
