Job Description
Provides oversight of charge capture within Children's Physician Group via direct supervision of charge entry associates and appointed business operations coordinators. Indirectly supervises and monitors the pre A/R revenue to meet timely filing and financial goals. Creates and monitors charge reconciliation tools for all CPG practices. Optimizes reimbursement through denials analysis and prevents denials via building tools in electronic medical records and the billing processes to prevent incorrect coding and billing.
Experience
• Five years of experience in coding/billing
• Two years of experience in physician practice or consulting physician practice operations
Preferred Qualifications
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist- Physician-based (CCS-P)
Education
Associates degree in business, finance, accounting, or healthcare-related field, or 3 years of equivalent experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, CPT/HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding systems, medical billing functions, and third party insurance carrier requirements, including Medicare and Medicaid
• Demonstrated proven strong written and oral communication skills, and must be able to educate/speak to large groups of people, including physicians and clinical staff
• Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with staff from different disciplines on an individual and/or team basis
• Must be able to successfully pass the Basic Windows Skill Assessment at 80% or higher rating within 30 days of employment
Job Responsibilities
1.Creates and monitors daily workplans for charge entry associates and other billing staff as appropriate to ensure timely processing of professional charges within CPG.
2.Monitors charge capture and charge reconciliation processes for all CPG departments and reports any areas of concern to appropriate management.
3.Oversees charge capture and release for new providers and new departments to make sure claims are released timely as the providers are enrolled with third party payers.
4.Partners with Coding, Compliance, and other departments on coding/billing issues; coordinates review of open issues and monitors until resolved.
5.Creates and manages EPIC build requests to optimize revenue performance for professional billing.
6.Oversees the development of billing tools and reports that allow Practice Managers and billing providers to enhance revenue through correct charge capture and reconciliation.
7.Creates and manages charge capture reports and tools in conjunction with the CPG Manager for Reporting, Manager of Coding Education, Billing and Reimbursement and Practice managers.
8.Keeps current on regulatory billing requirements, CPT/HCPCS, ICD-10, and payer-specific coding changes, ensures adequate and appropriate training to all affected areas.
9.Communicates compliance concerns to Children's Physician Group leadership team and Compliance as needed and develops/manages action plans to address.
10.Understands post-billing review findings and assists in education for the purpose of improving deficiencies identified in the review.
11.Reviews and analyzes denial information from third-party payers to address charge capture operational issues that may contribute to denials.
12.Facilitates the completion of charge corrections needed as part of corrective action plans and updates the Compliance department.
13.Is responsible for all aspects of managing and leading a team including: interviewing, hiring, training, developing, directing work and processes, managing performance, recognizing, and rewarding employees.
14.Mentors team members to encourage personal and professional growth.
15.Encourages ongoing skill development by providing opportunities for continued education.
